I agree. I think that this group is the best. I've explained it to Larry before...I use to ride a motorcycle with a group, and it was hard breaking into the group and getting to know people, especially as a single woman. The guys just thought I was a stupid girl... until they saw me ride, then they'd think that I'm a stupid girl that can ride (it helped a little bit). The wives and girlfriends just saw me as a stupid girl that they needed to protect their man from. It just wasn't fun. But you guys are the best from the first minute I met you...you guys teased me bad from the first drive (should have left my girlfriend home). I felt included from the first moment I met you guys. Thank you.

As for Larry & Aaron. A big thank you for ALL your hard work. I love the events that you guys have put together. I knew they were a lot of work, but didn't really understand the monumental amount of work put into each drive and the details until I started putting the Diva Drive together. You guys are the best.
Well, I am protecting my man from you Amy. Pauleron is HOT STUFF so hands off...that is until he turns 30. He'll be super old then.

Thanks for all the hard work, Larry and Aaron and not to forget Brandon (before). I always refer to it as a "car club" too. I am not sure what led to this clarification, care to elaborate?

Thanks.

I don't know which I'm more upset with - our legal system or the people who abuse it. Or maybe it's the parents who raise irresponsible children and then release them into the world ... OUR world. They have a tendency to %@#$ it up for everyone else.

It sucks that you guys have to do this research, make these statements, and work so hard for peace-of-mind when all you want to do is spend time with friends.

But the work and research you two have done is excellent and shows you care about the group and the quality of drives that are put on. Kudos!

I don't really blame Larry and Aaron for wanting to cover themselves here, but are there any examples of a CO being sued or blamed for another drivers wrecks or other issues? This all seems a little like unwarranted fear

Like I said, I guess covering your butt is not a bad thing but this just seems WAY out of left field. I have never seen or heard of anything like this happening and can't really see the logic. There are much much larger groups, clubs, crews, or whatever you want to call them, then ours here and they don't have any issues

Lets just say for a second I was a sue happy person. For the Homecoming last year I was rear ended. BackCracker was the person who organized the event so I want to sue him. Exactly how can you legally blame him for someone else rear ending me? Seriously, what would you tell a judge?

One way I can see a CO putting themselves in harms way is to not post the route of the drive and then saying "If you don't keep up and get left behind then you will not know where we are going". Then someone speeds or drives too fast for their comfort level and gets in a wreck. We do not do that here. We very clearly post the route and the destinations and also post that speeding, wreckless driving, etc are not condoned.

Anyways, it probably does not matter much now since I am selling the S and not going to be active on the drives but feelings and thoughts like these make me not want to participate in any of the events here anymore. I do not know how these thoughts/fears came about and like I said above I don't really blame the CO's for being WAY over the top with covering their butts. I just feel that this is not a "club", like you have mentioned, as we do not pay dues or have any type of initiation, and it is rather a group of friends with common interests that get together and have fun. When thoughts of anyone here stabbing anyone else in the back by suing for their own negligence it makes me want to stay away. Maybe this is the intentions of bringing this up. People will shy away and the group will stay small and more easily managed. Or maybe I am just being too extreme in my thoughts and looking into this too much.

Either way all of these warnings, threats, fears, regulations, etc make it less like a group of friends and more like an organized group or club if you ask me. By the CO's posting things like this more and more it seems to take the opposite affect of what I think was the goal posting it. Lets make this look like less of a "club" and more of a "group of friends"

Just my $0.02, well, maybe more like $0.37 worth

Brandon

It's not really an issue of people in the group suing each other and the group organizers, it's more about people outside the group who's daily life is effected by our group or a member of our group during a group event. They'll want reconciliation from the individual AND the person responsible for the group.

"Oh woe is me, my perfect world has been shaken by an evil fun loving convertible owner. I want him to pay for what he's done and I want the guy who put that evil person in my world to pay too. They must have lots of money because they drive nice cars."

I'm sure most of us would be willing to sign release forms and such saying we won't pass the buck to the COs in the event of lawsuits, or blame the COs for other member's damages to us, but that likely wouldn't be of much value because we don't hold them responsible anyway. And our release form does do them any good if the more likely situation of a 3rd party lawsuit were involved.

Is there any precedence of a town or region outlawing group drives / caravans? It's effectively a parade, and I know there are often guidelines regarding parade style usage of public roads.
