Yeah, gotta pay to play. I think gears and get some light weight wheels would help a ton. You will be surprise what 15lb wheels on all four corners drive compared to the stockers.

An AP2 tranny will make you a little faster, not a bunch. If you pair it with a lighter flywheel you will get quicker acceleration. The stock AP1 flywheel is 14lbs.

Remember if you can reduce your rotational mass you will accelerate faster - this is what Jason (S2k-2NV) is talking about as well.

You go lighter wheel/tire package and even the flywheel you will see an improvement.

Man pay to play! Dam I thought everything was free with a great car like the s =) it looks like I am saving up for turbo!

Maybe by the time I save up turbo will be less expensive with better quality and reliability =)

LMAO! Best thing to start with is a AEM computer or K-Pro. No matter what direction you go in, a good computer is on the must have list. It is one of the expensive parts so getting it and getting it out of the way will head you in the right direction. Plus with the parts you have already you could gain extra power from tuning!

I was told to get a vafc2, test pipe, bigger throttle body, and tune it. Is vafc2 really worth it? I heard stories about how once you get it tuned, the ecu resets itself in a few weeks? Is that true?

Basically my question is, is anyone running with the vafc2 and seen power gain?

It's not true. The tuning with the VAFC really is for when your under WOT conditions, so the ECU just have what ever map it has originally plus your adjustments on the VAFC. The relearn part might be for when people get bolt-on's, and the ECU will make some minor corrections if the car is running too lean or rich in partial throttle driving.

Before I went Kpro, I used a VAFC with my stock comptech setup. I used it only to lower my vtec point. It gave me a much smoother vtec cross-over as well as much better mid-range HP.

The S is an expensive car to mod. I think in the end it all comes down to what you want to do with the car. If you want to run people down or drag then FI is must. If you want to time attack touge car then you could get by with staying NA.

As everyone has been saying from the factory the motor is pretty much maxed out for peak power, you can inprove the mid range part of the power band and definatley lighten up the car to make it quicker.

For me switching from dual exhaust to the single makes a big difference. There is much more pull with the single than dual, plus it's titanium to it ways next to nothing.

If you want to stay NA there are some options but they will cost you, K24 bottom end, cam'd head, ITB' supporting bolt ons all this wont yet you big power, but you will have insane throttle response and mid range.

Check this build out

na build

Yeah I'd have to agree when it comes to bolt ons. I've spent way too much for exhaust, intake, lightweight pulleys, new clutch, etc only have very minimal gains in power. Best time is a 14.5 in the quarter mile. Should of just saved up for a turbo or a stroker kit.
