Is the 2000 non-Z06 vette going to turn WAY faster track times then a pretty much stock 2005 S2K? My uncle has the vette and I have the S2K. He said he will smoke me. I know straight line he's got me, but what about the track?

Was that the C5 or the C4 Vette? Vette is probably a faster car, but that doesn't mean much. It all depends on the drivers.
Mike's right - it really boils down to how good the drivers are. With a good driver behind the wheel a C5 or C6 Corvette will pretty much walk away from the S2k every time. They are not slow cars in the turns by any means but it always gets back to whether the driver has a clue or not. I have passed quite a few in the hands of novices - and had the doors sucked off of my car while being passed by others.....
The Vette is the faster car, but fast does not necessarily equal fun. Every Vette I've driven on the track (and I've driven a number of them) has been more or less the same, even the modded 500+whp ones. The seem numb to me, and driving them fast always feels more like an exercise in faith (that the car has the grip is promises, that the brakes won't fail me, etc.). Fast laptimes say nothing important about the car, really, but that's just my opinion.

That's blasphemy!! There can't possibly be anything more important than having the fastest lap time of the day at a driver's event. Why just the thought of not having the cheering crowds looking towards the podium at the end of the day to see the winnar brings tears to my eyes.

It's the big check and the adoring 22-yr-old girls that I like.
Heh, Mike, I'll be at PR tomorrow teaching for BMW-Puget Sound if you can carve out a few minutes to drop by and say hello. If the weather's nice (and it's supposed to be), I'll be bringing the Elise.
