Default RETIRED..

Alright guys, so.. she's done for.

This is straight out of a horror story, and anything that could of went wrong, did.

At 12:15pm today my car was smacked by an uninsured driver while my car was parked in NW portland. The woman was uninsured, suspended license, driving her boyfriends car, that she dropped off at the county jail. I kid you not, when the officer asked her whos car it was, she said my boyfriends, and the officer asked her to call him, and she said "i am really embarassed about this, but i just had to drop him off at the county jail" she had missing front teeth, was in torn up clothing, and the officers gave her sobriety tests (which she somehow passed) because she seemed really methd out.

my car got creamed, she smacked my 1/4 panel, my door, my mirror, my fender, my hood, my volks, my tire, my headlight, my coilovers and control arms were snapped and the front bumper was torn off, the impact was so bad it tossed my car up on top of the curb, where the bumper proceeded to mess up the passenger headlight, and curb my front right wheel/tire. My vehicle then was pushed forward into a mini cooper in front of me which i had taken out there rear bumper, and the lady also ran into the side of that persons car. this is from all that i could gather without actually pulling anything apart. it gets worst..

after most of the ordeal is over, and i was in complete shock of what just happend, it took three different tow trucks to try to get under my car because it was too low. and well, when the third guy finally said we have to do what we have to do, he pulled it up on his bed, and my exhaust was completely scraping the ground to add insult to injury.

how could it get worst? well besides me forking the tow bill, $148, and having to rent a car $31 a day. i checked my policy, and i dont have uninsured motorist coverage? am i the dumbest person ever? most likely..

but i feel like i am one of the luckiest people ever, i am feeling very fortunate at this moment.. when the lady hit my car, i was actually outside of my car, had parked for maybe no more then 10seconds. I was in my trunk pulling out my backpack near the left side of my rear bumper. Thats when the lady hit my car, i was about 1-2 feet away from that lady completely piling into me and taking me out. i am still a bit shocked, and shaken up right now. but nonetheless, im out a car, and feeling pretty lucky still.

downers? i will miss the dyno day this weekend.. brians anticipated handover of his ap2 bumper conversion was to be saturday (sorry brian) i have my berlina amuse style bumper, and gtm wing painted and ready to pick up today. and i miss the drives i am already signed up for

Sorry to hear... but at least you are not hurt.

I thought the uninsured coverage was just for personal injury and that your comprehensive coverage will fix your car.

I was just going to say that. You are required in Oregon to have uninsured motorist insurance. That pays you if you are injured by a motorist who is uninsured. That has nothing to do with the damage to your car.

As Chris says, your own insurance will cover the damage to your car (less your deductable).

I'm really sorry to hear about your accident! I hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction.

You should still be protected to get your car either repaired or totalled/paid out.

Really sorry to hear about it though

It's always painful to find out that has happened.

Wow, that's painful to read let alone go through it. Really sorry to hear that. Like everyone is saying, the good thing is that you're alright. Follow up on the insurance issues. I'll bet money you're covered.

Something good always comes with change.

thanks guys,

according to the things i read on my policy options, it is REQUIRED by oregon law to have uninsured motorist insurance for personal injury, but OPTIONAL to have uninsured motorist damange to the vehicle, which i didnt opt for.

nonetheless, i guess ill keep posted on what takes place from here. i had the car dropped off at precision autobody because typically the quote very high, and am hoping for my car to be totalled, i dont want it back in that condition, and if it isnt, well i guess ill take it from there.
