A forum member does not have to be a paid member of S2KI, but they do need to be badged. We think that is a pretty reasonable compromise. And it is not a “rule”, but actually a relaxing of the forum requirement.
Larry -
As you stated... S2ki requires you to be a paid member to post on the forums.. I think that is fantastic! I helps keep this site running ande running well. S2KI however does NOT enforce there local CO's to come up with rules to get badged so you can buy and sell things. Honestly it doesn't matter to me how many other areas on this forum do it that way it still seems rediculous!
As far as the drives go, your absolutely right. Yourself and Aaron are doing these drives and doing them different than what I am used too. I understand that if I want to do things differently than the power is well within me. My point to this thread is how much things have changed and what I have noticed within these changes and what my opinions are. I do appreciate you finaally chiming in on something here as you are the main CO....
PS- I have had PM's from people on here of which I do know and also don't know since I started this thread appreciating the thread because they didn't want to speak up... they also said they and many others have stopped posting in here and even coming into the Oregon section because of how things have changed. Just thought I would let ya know..

(By the way this IS the “S2000 Owner’s Forum”, not the “All–Inclusive Car Enthusiasts Forum”)
Just for comparison, the pacnw is called "Pacific Northwest s2000 owners", and here the very first paragraph in their FAQ thread:
"Audience
This forum is intended for S2000 owners and enthusiasts within the Northwest region of North America. This includes the states Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Montana, and the Canadian province of British Columbia. This forum and the meets organized by this group are NOT S2000 exclusive. We welcome owners and enthusiasts of all marquees: A to Yugo."
I'd like to post a few more thoughts, but I'm at work so I dont have time to write it all out.
I will say one thing about your last two points, Gavin...
You reference PacNW as the basis for the way things were...
We arent part of the PacNW section of S2ki anymore, we're "S2ki Oregon". Yes, PacNW covers Oregon as well, but we are large enough to "need" our own community.
Their "rules"/FAQ/Intent no longer apply here. They run their forum how they see a need for it, and we run it as we think it needs.
HondaGal has been very clear to the COs several times that they are to run their communities how they feel it needs to be run. That includes limiting sales to badged members (some COs felt it was smart, others didnt like it), rules for drives (or not), etc etc etc.
The administration does NOT want to be involved in the day to day regulation of a regional forum.

Larry made a comment about how this section used to be "a unruly wild-west forum", so I was just commenting on that.
And the quote from the PacNW thread was directed towards LoudMusic's post.
I know the Oregon section is separate now.
Anyways, I am about done with this thread, I just wanted to add my thoughts in since 05sdeuce brought this all out in the open.
I agree with Spa.. even though I started the thread I am about done with it.... In IMO it is very clear things are the way they are and the CO's are not very open to reaching out and/or listening to what others in the community thoughts are. So far all I have heard is the both of the CO's on the defense... Again IMO I think that is exactly why this forum seems to be so in-active in comparison to what is was in the past... Although there may be more people on here now this area on S2ki is much less active. I really enjoy the PACNW group and always have... I guess unless I move I will have to get my AARP card before I am accepted around here...
To all thanks for the input and I wish everyone the best maybe I will see some of you around... take care.
Hey one more thing.... I just went through all the rules again and it clicked that Spa (who used to be a CO, before he sold his 2nd "S") seems to meet all the requirements and abides by all the rules and is a paid member..... where is his badge??? after all he is the one that designed the damn thing about 4 years ago until it was redesigned very recently....
Just sorta found that odd...
Again this forum has the people and the potential to be much more active... MUCH MORE ACTIVE!
