Default Snow/winter driving

Any of you guys drive your S2K in the snow? I might have to so I am considering snow tires. Any tips or anything I should look for? i've seen a used set of snow tires for a good deal but they are smaller then OE specs. 195/55/16 all 4. Or should I stick with OE spec

Aaron is the only one that I can think of, he lives in Bend and his S is his daily driver. He's the only one crazy enough that I know of.

Stay with OEM size. They say that thinner tires are better in the snow due to less of a "plow" effect by the rubber, but I feel that the handling will feel more normal/predictable if you stay with the standard tire sizes.

I use Toyo Observes and feel that they do very well and I drive over the pass several times each winter to get together with the rest of the group here.
Blizzaks are also highly recommended but I have not personally used them.

As long as they are a good set of winter tires with nice siping....

you'll be ok if you stay easy on the pedals. The S does surprisingly well in the snow with proper preparation

Not that I would do it again, but I used Blizzaks the first year I owned the S in Rochester, NY (stock sizes). The tires are awesome and the S was an excellent vehicle in terms of driving on snow and ice predictably (with those tires).

you're telling me tony, I hate driving in the snow with an SUV/truck let alone a 2 door sports car. But it's my only vehicle. Everyone keeps saying should've bought a different car. But I say F u.

I had to manuever I-5 from Corvallis to Portland 2 years ago when we had that bad ice storm. Ruts in I-5.

It was not easy I feel lucky that I was okay and so was the laguna.

That was on stock re50's. It is manageable, just be sure and be easy on the gas and watch for others

it's nervewracking to drive on summer tires. I've done it and while it's doable, I certainly wouldn't recommend it. A tap too hard on the throttle would send my rear end a little sideways. Not fun.
