Default Valve Spring Retainers

F'ed up the other day on the way home and down shifted going 70 into 2nd instead of upshifting into 4th, redlined for about a second. After reading into the AP1 retainers and their issues with cracking overtime and especially after mechanically redlining I am looking to do some preventive maintenance to get piece of mind. Anyone with experience replacing retainers and adjusting valves? I have AP2 OEM retainers on the way and I'm mechanically inclined and able to do most work on anything but I am slightly worried about doing this on my own. I will throw some cash and beer your way if you are willing to help. Otherwise I'm just going to bite the bullet and take it to Chi at Dynasty next week.

If you're down in Miami/Palm Beach I do the job regularly. I could help you out.
