Wheel Powdercoating
Yeah like a powdercoater is going to admit that it changes the structure of the aluminum.
The fact is, the temp it takes to do a quick bake on the powder changes the aluminum on a molecular level. If it is done correctly it is fine, but alot of these places just spray it and bake it quick and they make it too hot.
Reaserch has been done, and many people have seen failures due to to much heat applied to the aluminum during powdercoating.

This is just like one of those hear say things. I have never seen a single powder coated wheel or heard of one brake when tracking. For daily driving this does not apply anyways as there will be no issues.
The wheel would have to be heated well over 400 degrees to change any of the properties in the metal. All standard powders cure at 350 degrees. Highest at 400 degrees.
Non powder coated wheels have cracked the same at the track, just if they are powder coated that get's blamed.
This reminds me of the Rota hating threads.
One picture of one broken at the track and all of a sudden Rota's break easily cause they are crap quality lol.
Exactly what I was saying, If done correctly they are fine.
How will you know if yours are done correctly?
I have personally seen powder-coated AP2 V1's crack at an autocross 2 weeks after being powder-coated. I have never seen another set of AP2 rims crack at an autocross.

Yeah I guess just make sure what the temp they cure them at is. As long as it's not like 500 or should be fine.
They even make low temp powders now that cure at like 250 or lower I believe.
