Tires
Hey people,
I just purchase 18'' rims and i was wondering if someone would have some suggestions about what size of tires should i mount them on and what kind of tires i should purchase.
I am looking for really good tracking in curves and decent in the rain.
Help please!!!
thanks
Frank

If you are talking about performance tires, Tire Rack has the best survey and rating system. If you browse around you can find info on most of the brands. Take these charts on the higher performance tires.

Or comparo reviews.

Here is a somewhat old tire comparo that Car and Driver did, that was pretty good.

225/255 is the sizes to get for a stock suspension. You can go smaller on the front or a little wider on the back if you think there is too much oversteer. For affordable good grip and great in rain, (somewhat soft sidewalls) the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. Money no object Bridgestone RE50's, or Michilen Pilot PS2. Don't care about tire wear or cost, almost track tires, Bridgestone RE-01R or Advan Neova.
Note there are general characteristics that the brands have.
- Yokohama/Advan tires have stiffer sidewalls which people like for cornering.
- Bridgestones, generally all around good but expensive.
- Michelin, generally all around good, but more so than the Bridgestone, but are really expensive.
- Toyo, cheap, ok grippy, good in the rain, really soft sidewalls
