Default Any had to replace a top yet?

I was sitting in the S waiting for my wife to get off work and noticed a hole in the top just to my left about level with my ear. I took a picture with my phone. I will try to post it. Has anyone else had a hole wear in their top? My warranty is up in November. What dealership should I take this to? Renton Honda has been very good so far, they did the cluch rattle TSB for me. What about getting a 02 top put on the 01? Anyone in the NW tried that? I saw a guy in Oregon got it done and only had to pay the difference.

Here is a not very good picture I had on my phone.

You can see the light coming through about the upper middle of the picture. On the outside all you can see is some wrinkles, the hole is not very visible.

Dropped it off at Renton Honda tonight. They said they had never replaced a top before so I said that Parker at Bellevue Honda has and he said he would give him a call. They also pointed out that it was wearing thin on both sides. Do you think they will patch it or replace? I hope replace because I don't want this thing to wear out again in a couple months and then be out of warranty.

Just got a call from Renton Honda. I guess the DSM for American Honda made a suprise visit on his way to Canada or somewhere and authorized a new top for my S. I asked about the possiblility of putting an 02 top on the car and they are getting back to me. Either way I get a new top. Renton Honda rocks.

I got a new top, but talked them into doing the '02 replacement...I may be the person from Oregon you referenced above. There was also another owner in Oregon that got his replaced with just the standard '00 top.

Yep, you were the guy I was talking about. Your thread was very helpful. I even told the Renton Honda guys to call down to the Oregon dealer you mentioned. They said that was their parent company. I am still waiting for them to call me back and let me know if they will do it.

Got a call this morning from Renton Honda. I guess they spoke with Beaverton Honda and Parker at Bellevue. They are telling me it will probably cost around $1000 out of pocket to do the 02 top on the 01. They also said it would void the warranty on the softop and all the electronics associated with it. I told them to go with the 01 top instead. Should be done by Tuesday or Thurday of next week. Oh well.
