➤ Manual transmission vehicles
If the vehicle has manual transmission the proper steps must be followed before leaving the parked vehicle, or the remote start feature is disabled. This process is called MTS, manual transmission start.
1. While the vehicle is running, put the transmission in neutral.
2. Press the vehicle’s foot brake.
3. Apply the emergency brake.
4. Release the vehicle’s foot brake.
Note: Pressing the brake again after this step will disable the remote start feature.
5. Using the remote control, press any button to activate the remote start within 15 seconds.
6. The parking lights flash 5-times confirming that the remote start is active.
If the parking lights do not flash 5 times, you have not entered manual
transmission mode and will need to repeat steps 1 thru 5.
7. Turn Off the ignition (the car should stay running when key is turned Off).
8. Exit the vehicle.
9. Lock the doors with the remote. (the vehicle should shut Off when locking the system).
10. You can now remote start the vehicle. If a door is opened, alarm has been triggerd in anyway, or you forgot something and unlocked your car with the remote before the next remote start activation, the system will not remote start. You will have to repeat the sequence again from scratch.
To drive your vehicle after it has been remote started:
1. Get in without stepping on the brake.
2. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the On position.
3. Now, step on the brake.
4. The remote control plays the remote start shutdown tone. You have now taken direct control from the remote start system.

Yeah, I agree with remote start. My friends car destroyed my mom's garage... But yeah I installed my own alarm and hid the brain somewhere else than the usual spots. Was quite proud and in the process learned a lot about my S. If you have a weekend (mine took 4 days to do since I ran into things and tried something and fail) it shouldn't be that bad just get a helm's book and some buddies to help out.
i did have compustar on manual before and to make it think it's automatic all you had to do is cut one of the wire inside the brain unit.
i usually never leave my car in gear. i don't park on a hill so wasn't really a problem for me so i decided to cut that wire to make it think it's an automatic.
as far as installations goes i can vouch the guys at fry's electronics. i have known one of the installer since high school.

Well, I went to CNC Autosports and had the full meal deal 2-way Compustar installed. I had to pick the car up late because they had some issues with the install I guess. Got home at 10pm after driving back to West Seattle from Bellevue and found that when I hit the lock button the doors don't lock, bummer. I'll be heading back out to have them fix it, but until then I have to use the oem fob to lock the doors and the Compustar fob to arm the alarm.
Despite the glitch I do have to say that the guys there are extremely professional and go the extra mile in terms of service. I would go back again but will be more attentive checking to make sure everything is dialed in before I leave.

Yea, I had to borrow it a few times when the install lasted more than expected great thing is when that happens they don't up your labor rates because they like to do it right the first time. BTW how do you like your alarm? Do you have the window pager also?
Ya Speedzone (Luke) did my install. Did a great job! Speaking of that I still have one of your tools that you left in my car, I just been so damn lazy to make it back up there just to return a lil tool. Next time I'm in the area Luke I'll bring it back. Don't worry I didn't forget. I just don't want to waste gas to drive all the way up there lol

Is this guy still around?
Well. I work for Compustar and we've been doing Manual transmission vehicles since 1998.
We have never lost a case.
We are also in development of a new modules called a DAS sensor. Its a built in digital dual shock sensor, digital tilt sensor and a G-Force sensor. The G-force sensor is ideal for a drop top. As soon as the mod senses any G-force it will kill the ignition.
