Yeah, it's obvious that the cross brace structure in front of the engine had to be cut away to get that to fit. That would be my big concern, the loss of chassis stiffness that would result from that.

Depends on what you are going to use the car for.
All supports and cross braces have been restored. I have just reinstated my membership so.............I'll post some pics hopefully today, let me know what you want to see inparticular and I'll throw it up.

I'm really suprised that nobody ask what was mounted inside the right front fender in the Video.

Mike, the balance of this car (3022lbs wet) is what, from the factory 49 / 51 front to rear??? I can show you the quarter scales results, it's now 49.9 / 50.1 unbelievable and not planned...and, I swear to you the CG's are lower now than anytime prior. Docile?? it's amazing how docile and planted it is, I would have thought............"holy shit, stay in your lane.....focus, focus,....get ready.....thisd thing just ROCKS. You guys have been (I'm sure) on HWY 97 east side of Coeur d' Alene lake to much fun Mike and yes, i would take it back to the track.

what did that cost?
If you have to ask.................lol

I know this hybrid is sac-religious to some and I respect your views in that regard, however, as some of you know, I have went full circle with this car.........Vortech supercharger, turbo up to 28 lbs and C-16 gas.plenty of fun factor without a doubt. You guys also know that I haven't been overly impressed with the domestic V-8. I wish the LS-7 was on the market when I started tweeking the "S" This motor is stock @ 28mpg and cruises down the road like a "Daily Driver" until somebody slides in along side and revs on you, kick it down two or three holes and WOW, let the games begin. Many of you guys are aware of a couple of guys that were running 185 mph at the Spokane track. I would top out at 160 mph (as most of you) yes, we would get there very quickly and then what.........we just cruised until it was time to set up for turn 1. I could never come up with a way to increase the top end without sacrificing what little tourque (or bottom end) available. Well let me reiterate when I say, WOW!!!!

Hope this helps

[QUOTE=WestSideBilly,Jul 22 2009, 12:34 PM]Were there any frame modifications to make it fit?

Excellent swap, regardless!

I was curious, but just forgot to ask. Any chance you'll enlighten us?

Good for you and absolutely. The LS-7 comes with a dry sump for oil, allowing the increase of oil quantities without a large obtrusive oil pan, (eleven qts I think) anyway it's so big there was really no place to stash it, so we cut it in half, added a top to one and a bottom to the other, the lower part you can see with the fender off (vid) and the other half is in the upper left (looking at it)

We made a new cross brace and attached the rack to it instead of the factory subframe so I could move it slightly left and squeak as much as possible. I also used urethane engine mounts to limit movement. Right now that little rubber dust cover that slides over the input shaft of the rack just barely clears the altenator. All things considered it works great and feels stock
The lower subframe was modified and now has a reciever channel on either side that uses a cast aluminum sub frame connector. As I recall it started out as a GTO subframe and we inverted it.
