Hardtop Squeaks
Take the plastic trim piece off and check the screws holding the strikers in. They like to get loose over time causing squeaking. Also check the screws holding the visors. I had a really bad rattle and squeak right over my head and thought it was the hard top when it was the stupid visor.
yah. I noticed that when i did that, it tended to "spread" the bottom posts outward.
The PVC stand cost me like 60 to build not including some of that pipe insulation as padding and some shop rags i put in strategic places. Plus it takes one HELL of a lot less space in the garage standing on end.
if you want a diagram theres a few floating around here, but i have one saved i can E-mail around. Also i only used it as a guide, didnt follow it exactly and wish i had made more changes, but i glued it so its staying like that forever.

+1 on checking all the hardware underneath the visor plastic, including all striker screws. Although I never had any squeaks, every year or so there was always a screw which backed out a turn or so, only a matter of time for the others to follow..
Here's a link to the DIY hardtop stand: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/534...d-it-yourself/
While the pic says $40, in 2007 or so, I spent ~$80 for all the pieces at Home Depot in California. I did buy the blue pvc glue, but don't recommend using the glue. The PVC fit very snug and there was ZERO chance of one coming undone, so I never glued them.
