Default HELP with trunk switch!

The other day my trunk lid switch in the center compartment decided to stop working. It doesn't sound like a big problem but it is kind of inconvenient to use my keyless entry to open the trunk everytime I want to, especially because it doesn't work when the car is on. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows what I can do to fix it. I am reluctant to go to the Honda dealership to have it fixed because I know they will charge a lot.

Thanks!

Probably a wire is loose or a fuse is blown. Or the switch itself could be broken. Does the 12V outlet still work?

Not sure if the 12V outlet still works ... I will check it next time I'm in my car.

Actually, now that I think about it I don't think a fuse or wire is involved. Isn't it just all mechanical?? Seems like it would be ...

No, it is not mechanical at all. It is an electrical switch.

Yeah its electrical and it would be a PITA to plug it back in if the connector for the plug is indeed loose. You'd have to remove aleast the center console and plastic pieces with vent holes behind the seats which isn't that bad. The bad part would be if you had to loosen the roll hoop plastic covers.

I would try taking out the center console and those plastic behind the seats pieces with vents on them. (the ones you can buy with speakers in them from lucid) With those removed you might be able to unscrew enough to loosen the glovebox and lift it up just enough to plug the switch connector in.

Do check if the power outlet works first though because if thats out too its probably not a loose connection.

I will try the 12V socket next time I am in my car ...

Hope I don't have to take all that apart: I've done it before and it didn't turn out that well =\

does the trunk switch on your key fob work? if not then it's not a loose switch wire in the secret compartment!
