1. The Wilwood's could suffer an identical failure. The fire was a result of wearing through the backing plate.
2. RT thinks his Wilwoods could use a little more engineering. They didn't survive the "Pepsi Challenge" at Pacific Raceway as a fully stock system clearly outperfomed them in a track environment. While the fronts are larger, the balance of the brake system is upset and results in increased braking distances.
3. Imagine the difficulty I would have sourcing a replacement set of calipers should the Wilwoods break on this road trip.

WAYYYY not time for a Wilwood brake kit.

Yeah, once a month just isn't cutting it.

I picked up yet another set of rotors and I'm going to run with some of the Cobalt "sparkler" GT's. These pads come standard with more of everything: heat tolerance, dust, squeals, and sparks!

I'm all about some good squealing and sparks. I hear it's all the rage at the import car shows!

The hotter your brakes run, the faster you will use up your pads. Did you ever do that brake cooling duct mod like Ted has? I'm not using my brakes as hard as you (even when I have my car), but I'm considering it.

The only real downside is if it ducts rain onto your brakes when you don't need them cooled. What would be ideal would be removable plugs. Stick 'em in for street use; pop 'em out for track.
