Nobody done enough research to know that K&N ARE TERRRRRIBLE filters????

Do some research, consider how much dust they let through, I did my own study with a little clean oil on my intake track and then did a week of driving and looked at all the dust that got through. YIKES! Compare that to stock or to my foam/oil filter explained below and the choice is pretty obvious. Research my thread in the SoCal section on it if you need.

The fact that you can hold them up and see sunlight through them directly should be a red flag. I'd never run a K&N on anything I intended to put a lot of miles on such as a street legal car.

Want a better flow AND much less dirt? Try a Oil/Air filter such as Uni Filter! running one now, supports 800hp sand rails with vette motors so you can be sure that our little 2.2 motors aren't going to top it out. You can clean em twice a year and keep them for years and years before replacing the foam. Nearly NO dirt through and superior flow. Any questions?

The HKS one sucked... low quality. The foam falls appart literally and gets sucked into your motor in some cases, mine I caught prior thank god.

I've used UNI filters for a decade in motocross, thick dust for hours and a spotless intake track, so you know if they handle that then they'll handle street no problem.

Hope some of this info is helpful to people. Do read up on properly oiling them though, don't over oil!!!!!!! just a a tiny bit and work it through with your hands, too much and it goes up your intake jacking your sensors up, particularly your MAP sensor. Good rule for all oil filters including K&N.

Great information. I Googled the Uni Filter and they have my filter size that would work with my K&N intake. I'll call some motorcycle shops around town and see if they have the size in stock, otherwise I'll just order from a Uni Filter trusted online dealer

Also check if Donaldson/Amsoil makes a dry filter for our application. I do know they make universal fit dry cones which is what may be used in our cars.

So many K&N haters. I've put thousands of track miles on vehicles equipped with K&N's and many more thousands of street miles. Never a problem. Enjoy your intake and the beautiful music it will make.

Me as well. Make sure and oil the filter properly and it should offer you years of good filtration and performance. I run one on all my cars including my Boosted S.

Its interesting the foam filter was recommended such as the UNI. Contrary to my experience, these offer the best airflow and worse filtration quality. I trashed the foam Comptech one that came with the kit pretty soon after purchase. The only way I might consider running a foam filter on this car is with a good pre filter like I do on my dirtbike. Running a oiled/cotton filter such as the KN on the car just makes more sense to me, but you can run a pre filter on those as well if your really worried about the lack of filtration.
