Cool, thanks for all the replies.

ALFYonso...you got 30k miles out of your set of Star Specs? I didn't even get that from the Sumitomo tires.

^ as mentioned, there was a lot of low-wear driving involved...

For the folks with these Star Spec tires...

Are you going 215/245 or 215/255 for OEM wheels and stock suspension?

Thanks!

id go 225/255 with those on stock.

but i also wouldnt run those tires in this kind of rain that we get.

id look into something that was actually an all season tire, or the better thing would be to buy a winter tire or a rainy season tire and then spend the money later on some summer tires and swap em back and forth. thats just my 02.

Tom I would go with the 225/45 and 255/40. These are the same side wall height, whereas the 215 is actually a shorter mismatch from the 255. Being an ap2 you will like the extra grip of the 225 up front also.

Either the star spec or Exta SX are going to be a fine choice. The starspec has a little better wet traction and the Exta has a little better dry traction. You might get a little more life out of the star specs since they are a higher wear rated tire. 200 vs 180. I'd say if your moving to cali go for the Extas, if staying here go with the starspecs.

Just my 02.

Chris,

I thought 225's up front would rub the fenders??

i had 225/45 fronts and 255/40 rears on ap2v1 wheels. i never had any rubbing issues but i was at stock height.

note that compared to 16" ap1 wheels, the wider tires really followed the road.
