I'd look for a more stock S2000. Not one with a "JDM" exhaust, "JDM" wheels, way overdone HID bulbs and no-brand brake pads.

Craigslist is were I found my 2001 NFR AP1. Unfortunately, It looks like I will have to sell mine, due to medical issues ( to be quite honest, I have had a difficult time enjoying it of late ). It is not listed as yet, as I have not parted it out. Of course, if someone wanted to buy it with the exhaust and wheels, you would have the same car that I was entering in car shows up here in Bellingham. PM me if you or anyone else is interested, and may you find the car your looking for.

I would love to help you out, but I should be studying for my test right now, so by tomorrow or the next day I will try to find something nice and reasonably priced for you if I find one. And my personal advice would be don't be tempted by something based on price alone. If it isn't nice and mechanically sound already, it may take a lot of extra money to get it to where it should be. Just a little something to keep in mind in your search. With that said, you should be able to find a very nice S2000 between the $15,000 and 20,000 range. I purchased my 01' in very nice condition with under 32k on the clock for under $15k just last May (a little over $15k after I went back for the hard top).

Edit: I'm still awake as I just took the online test for my class.
After searching the Seattle/Portland Craigslist and Autotrader by individual owner, I did not find a single ad that had me interested. Nonetheless, I searched the LA Craigslist for the heck of it as more s2ks are typically for sale down there year round, and found one ad that had me somewhat interested. It does have an aftermarket exhaust, but it looks like it may be one that is somewhat "tasteful" , so I may consider that something fairly neutral (though I'm not one to know much of anything about aftermarkets).

It is a Rio Yellow Pearl (I believe) 2007 model with only ~37,500 miles on the clock and appears to be in very good condition. If you are patient and keep looking you are nearly guaranteed to find one this nice or nicer around here for a decent price as well (and in one of the colors of your choice), but keep in mind the 2006+ models go for considerably more money. A 2004-2005 model in nearly the same shape as this car should not be too hard to find between $15,000 to $16,000 assuming the prices do not go up.

How soon are you looking to buy? I have a completely stock 04 Silverstone ap2 with red/black interior in great shape. I bought missing only the seats but I have to clean it up and get it ready for sale. I'll sell it for around 17k. It's minty with 32kish on it.
