THANKS for your help guys, that link to ClubHonda explains exactly what is happening. so my next question is WHY would Honda put that in if it prevents you from quicker shifts and what is the "LSD". .......... URban dk what does the AP1 do that the AP2 doesn't ?........ again THANKS everyone for your comments/knowledge. This is the first used car I've bought in 15yrs and I thought "boy did I just get screwed". So next time we hook-up for a drive, I owe you guys a beer.
The AP1 has a clutch slave cylinder without the delay valve. You can modify your AP2 slave cylinder and remove a clip, but apparently it's a huge PITA. I spent 30 bucks for a new AP1 slave cylinder to avoid the headache, and I can go back to stock if I chose at a later point.

As long as you aren't doing clutch drops from a standing start or power shifting, I don't think you will be stressing your diff out very much by switching out the delay valve. What you will get is a much more precise feeling shift.

Roger, if you want, we can go to my house after Tacos (about 5 min away) and "fix it" if you don't already have it handled by then ....... let me know.

Hell yeah Omar, you know you're always welcome, whatever can't be handled in the Azteca parking lot can definitely be resolved in the Batcave ........ and in this case I'm thinking $0 in parts because I've got the brake/hydraulic fluid and we'll just "fix" the stock AP2 part.

I totally appreciate all the help but now that I know it was designed to do that, not sure I even want to mess with it. RT if I decide to switch it out later and the offer still stands, I'll treat you dinner that night at Taco Tuesday.

one thing I do know, if anyone out there is reading this and you have any questions related to your/our S2000's, post it. I can't help but think of how many people may have unknowingly brought there car to a dealer/mechanic for this and other simple items and been charged for something so simple. I know if I have anymore questions I'll be posting them.

The CDV used to annoy the crap out of me, but after a while, I learned how to drive around it. If you shift a little slower / disengage the clutch a little quicker than applying throttle, it becomes a non-issue. I'd recommend keeping it in; it's cheap insurance on a glass differential.
