Ron had the WA State law printed out & with him in court and they still didn't care. From what I remember it says it has to be vertical and within 4 ft of the ground, he argued it nearly was (not totally vertical in front window) and the judge STILL didn't care.

Basically he's been there, done that, doesn't work...

Yeah, Annie... I got pulled over constantly for not having a plate on my car in Bellingham. I was still pulled over even with the plate in the window.

They need our front plate for their speed measuring devices. It's all about $$$.

Simply showing the cop will not be good enough. Cops are taught the military way of doing things, and that means never think for yourself. If you want the cop to never write the ticket, just invite him to sign off on the exemption. (Such an exemption is mentioned in the RCW) Said officer will go into a catatonic brainlock as he tries to contemplate the career ramifications of thinking for himself, and he will slowly walk back to his car muttering about the gerbils inside his head... Your ticket never happens.

I take my chances and will fight it if stopped again... except the way to fight it isn't to fight the law, but to fight the system.

IE, there are certain timelines the court must follow in processing your case. If they don't schedule a court date within 90 days, if they don't provide discovery within 7 days of your court date (when requested 14 days prior to court date), etc., then you can often get your ticket kicked. I saw 5 or 6 of these tossed last time I was in court... I tried, but didn't have the proof. Ended up contesting the case (speeding via laser) and got it dismissed anyway.
