Please help needed ASAP!!!!
Here is my story my car is now at 27,256 km and the car is almost 2 years old. I was away from the country for 2 months and just recently got back. During the time I was away the S2K was driven by my family member. My service point was suppose to be at 26,000 km or september whichever came first. I call my dealership (Carter) on Monday asking if they have time for a service maintenence. They told me Monday is the busiest day of the week and told me to come back tomorrow. That night while I was crusing along in 3rd gear at around 5000-6000 rpm on the highway the engine suddenly felt weird. Immediately I slow down and at the red light I could hear this loud noise coming from the front of my car. Although the car didn't seem to lose any performance. I poped the hood and tries to locate where the problem is at. I notice the sound was coming from around where the Vavle cover is at and the sound was a constant buzz. I immediately drove home which was about 5 mins drive away and park the car in the garge over night. Next morning at 7:30 am I headed off towards the service center. It was around 9 am before they were able to get a technican to check out the car. They told me to leave the car for the day and they would contact me at the end of the car updating me on the progress. Later that day around 3:00 pm they told me the bad news. The engine has some serious damage and Carter needed to consult Honda Canada before they can do anything. Carter Honda's service advsior told me the car should still be protect under the basic 3 year warranty. Today I receive the news Honda Canada deemed the car unvalid for warranty coverage. Their reasons was I missed the 6000 km service point by about 1400 kms. They said my engine oil has dropped from 4 L something to 1.5 L and all expenses are not covered. So now the dealer told me to phone Honda Canada Service Relations tomorrow morning and tell them my case and see what they says. Carter Honda is telling me if I repair the engine it could be anywhere from $5,000 to 10,000 or even more if it requires a new engine. Is there anything I can do?
This doesn't sound right. I think you could have a problem with the oil issue, as the manual does state that you need to check the oil every time you fill up with gas, but really if this disallows the coverage because of a problem that seems to be more car related than driver (high consumption of oil) then that is really poor service on Honda's part. The other issue, the 6000km service check that you missed by 1400km, while technically is a problem, again you vigorously dispute this point. If you go 20 miles to the south and reside in Blain, Washington you are allowed to go 8000 km before your service check. Essentially the same car, the same weather conditions yet since you are in Canada you have to pop for a $10000 repair bill. That is just plain wrong.
Please let us know how the discussion goes with Honda Canada, and make sure you let them know that you will be discussing the situation on this forum. I think forum members are getting a little tired of Honda's poor service...

I am not sure if Honda is responsible for oil level. It appears that the oil wasn't checked and could be your responsibility
Can't wait to hear how this turns out. Really hope you can resolve this w/Honda.

The stock engine holds 5.5liters of oil. If you were down to 1.5liters your engine probably blew. This means one of two things: you weren't checking the oil level (out of town), or a failure caused the loss of the oil.
If it was simply letting the oil level get too low the oil light would come on before the engine took any damage or started making noise (not long before, but definately before). Did you notice if the oil light was on when it first started making noise?
My guess is something else went wrong causing the loss of oil as Jerry said. Maybe you can get the mechanic to describe what specifically is the "serious damage" to the engine.
I can't imagine that being 1256km over the service interval invalidates your warranty. That's absurd! I'd fight this.

do a search on #4 cylinder failure
The oil loss is due to the failure, don't let them tell you the failure is due to the low oil level since you religiously check the oil level at every fill up ........ RIGHT?
