Something here doesn't sound right, the dealer let you drive the car ? A technician drove it also ? There's a red light on a highway? Lougheed highway ?
Where did all that oil go ? Is it all in the exhaush pipe ? Is it on your driveway ?

A new motor is about $6500 CDN plus installation maybe $8500 total. I would be interested in getting your claim denied in writing. Then you could take it to the press !
The service point for Type 3 can depend on either mileage or time. I guess they based my on time and they did my at 19,794 kms on March 22.

The dealer told me to take back my car after they said Honda Canada was not giving up one penny to cover any expense.

When technician test drove it I was not around as they told me to leave the car for the day.

As for the highway it was UBC highway.

There is no oil patch on my driveway.

We will also need to show Carter and the DSM all the info. collected about the #4 cyclinder failures. Words without proper documentation won't be enough.

I had a little talk with REV9K (alan) and based on the information he has given me (his side of the story), it seems as though Honda is being unreasonable, but at this time (mid-day Friday), Honda still hasn't given him a final response. So for now I think we are in a holding pattern.

Info that Alan did give me

- All servicing was done at Carter and was done on time (except last one).
- The car is driven by himself, sister and her boyfriend of sister, but is not driven hard and hasn't been tracked.
- He has no internal mods to the car, but has done some suspension work and has Spoon Spark plugs.
- No forced air or even a CAI on the car.

I did call Westwood to talk to Kelly, but he is no longer with the company, so our new guy is Louis. Louis is going to call Honda Canada because he thinks there must be more to the story. He is willing to look into it and see if he can prod Honda Canada along.

I also called carter and spoke with Russ (the sales manager) and I asked him to look into it as well. He says that based on his information (which is sketchy at best at this point), he thinks they would have tested the oil and it must have shown that the oil had broken down due to extreme temperatures caused by low oil level (owner abuse according to Russ). He is going to talk to Stacey (the service manager) and see what is happening with this particular case. Stacey is supposed to get back to Alan today, and I will call Russ back next week.

Hopefully, now that the pot has been stirred a little, Honda will reconsider their position...

Goddamn this is a load of bullshit. I cannot believe how Honda Canada is treating you guys. Honda of America has pulled some shit like that on a couple owners out here too. Get as many S owners as you can calling in about this crap. Get a lawyer.

What kind of car shows an Oil Pressure warning indicator AFTER the damage has been done?!?!?! This kind of shit makes me want to ditch Honda.

Sounds like Carter Honda is passing the buck. Dealers have more pull with the DSM than they let on. They can also go above the DSM if needed.

Example: I noticed my hardtop had a paint flaw from the factory. Local dealer (Bellevue) agreed and scheduled an appointment with the DSM. Local DSM agreed but would only approve to have the top repainted locally. But I wanted a new factory painted top. He refused and the dealer said that's all we can do.

I called the dealer from where I bought the hardtop (out of state). They called Honda Corporate and had a new hardtop shipped directly to me.

If Bellevue wanted my business they would have done the same.

If Carter Honda wants your business they will get your car fixed. The DSM is not the last word.

Stacey just call me and said still no answers yet from Honda Canada. He said he will keep trying and will give me an answer by the end of the day. Stacey also asked us to keep things low profile until at least a final answer is given from Honda Canada.

Please keep us posted.

The last time I had a war with a Honda dealer I came out winning and I didn't even have to see the dealer again. We can use our Saturday morning BBQ as the last option.

Stacey call and said Honda Canada would like my authorization to go ahead with checking the engine for damage and cause. He said the engine diagnosis expense will be cover by Honda Canada. He said Honda Canada did not promise they will cover the damage expense at this point but it is a good start.
