The oil loss is due to the failure, don't let them tell you the failure is due to the low oil level since you religiously check the oil level at every fill up ........ RIGHT?

I check it periodically not every fill up. It was my bad on that part but losing that much engine oil without any warning was a bit too ridiculous. The low engine oil level shouldn't be a one day thing so I don't get why none of those preventive indicators came on.

Isn't a type 3 check up at 24K ?
Something here doesn't sound right, the dealer let you drive the car ? A technician drove it also ? There's a red light on a highway? Lougheed highway ?
Where did all that oil go ? Is it all in the exhaush pipe ? Is it on your driveway ?
A new motor is about $6500 CDN plus installation maybe $8500 total. I would be interested in getting your claim denied in writing. Then you could take it to the press !

Just got a call from Sean regarding Saturday. After some minutes of catching my breath and reading this post, I've come to realize we should hold our horses. It doesn't sound right that we punish Carter Honda over a decision made by the district manager. My first course of action would be to write a letter to Honda Canada warning them of our actions - something similar to the M3 owners:

If this does not catch their attention we can further take it to the Press... look up CTV Olsen On Your Side. Recently they had a similar case with a KIA - though I agreed with the dealer on this one.
For the rest of us... check your oil

Cong, I used to work at Future Shop. One day a guy came in for warranty on a new computer, and was denied the service. A couple of hours later he was back with a sign and he stood on the sidewalk outside the store. Within 30 minutes he was not given warranty service, he was given a brand new computer.
While I agree that it is unfortunate that Carter is "caught" in the middle, let us not forget that the car is at Carter. Carter Honda is a Honda dealership, and as such is a representative of Honda Canada. They paid Honda Canada for the privilege to sell Hondas. Believe me, if they call the DSM at Honda Canada, they will have far more sway than we will. Alan is being screwed, and if I was in his position, I would be hopping mad and I would like people to help me out. If we don't do it this Saturday, then when??? Will Alan have to wait another week for action? We have all read threads about this sort of thing in the past (Shamu and his clutch) and had we flexed our muscle earlier, then we may not be dealing with crap like this now.
I am planning on calling Kelly at Westwood tomorrow, and I will also be contacting Carter to let them know of our plans as well. Hopefully the prospect of action will be enough, but if not, we should put on a small show of force. I am not talking about being obnoxious, just a little prodding from our "club" in support of one of our members.
Now, having said all this, I would like to add that I still haven't had a chance to talk to REV9K (alan) about this, and quite frankly he is the one who needs to call the shot on this and he doesn't even know what the plan is about, heck, he doesn't even know that a plan is brewing. Let me try to get a hold of him so that I can run the plan by him. If he is in agreement, I will call Kelly first, then Carter. Another owner has a contact at Carter and is willing to discuss the issue with them as well. Let me see what I can do and I can call people tomorrow night to firm things up. If it ends up being too rushed, then we will postpone.
Your thoughts????

next time someone has this problem, please make sure you check the dip stick first. if the oil is low, then add some more fluid before taking it to the dealership for service.... it seems like Honda wont warranty this once they find out the oil level is low.
