..... no need for 11's since the 285's are made to fit a 10" wheel ..... only reason I went to 10.5 was to get the offset (centerline of tire) where I wanted it (Wheel shells only come in 1/2" increments)

ahh.. we dont care whats made to fit, we make it fit I thought haha

I see, any reason why you didnt trim your fenders and go for less back spacing 1/2 worth, widening your wheel stance and resolving your inner rubbing issues?

ahh so its looks above function now, interesting how that can be switched around to accomidate

Its not swamp buggy though if you got enough on the inside I say

<--- Look how sexy that shit is...and functional baby

Oh that is Ray's set up, ok cool. I though Ray had 11" for some reason.

I was talking about the inside of the wheel Jerry. Stock offest is 63mm is it not? - 74mm = 11mm. Maybe backspacing would have been the proper terminology to describe.

Strangelove - Whats the camber spec? You are rubbing on the inside or out?
Offset is a measurement from the centerline of the wheel, not from the outside. To find out how much your junk is going to stick out compared to stock, you'll need to perform a brief calculation. For example, does the outside edge of stock AP1 tire mounting surface stick out as far as the stock AP2 when mounted to the same chassis?

Rear tires only:
Stock AP1 offset is +65 on a 7.5" wheel
Stock AP2 offset is +65 on a 8.5" wheel

((7.5 x 25.4)/2 - 65) 30.25
((8.5 x 25.4)/2 - 65) 42.95

The edge of the AP2 tire mounting surface should stick out 12mm farther than the stock AP1 wheel. Variation in the construction of the wheel and tire will cause further variations to the final fit. You get the idea though, right? Effectively, the formula allows you to calculate front spacing.

The delta between Ray's old setup and the stock AP1 configuration is almost 30mm in the rear. It sticks out more than an inch over stock and that's before mounting tires.

Making a slight modification to the forumula allows for calculation of backspacing:
Stock AP2 offset is +65 on a 8.5" wheel
((8.5 x 25.4)/2 + 65) = 172.95mm
Basically it has 6.8 inches of backspace.

Please note: There is probably a better formula for these calculations.

life is all about compromise young grasshopper ...... why compromise to SwampBuggy action when there's no problem to begin with. Your assumption that the inside contact is a problem is where you got derailed........ I'd tell you why but you're too young (hint: you're already on the bump stop before any contact)

JerJer, you need to add ~1/2" to get backspace numbers since it's customary to measure wheel widths from between the beads and backspacing from the outside of the inboard bead, Young Skywalker.
backspace=(width/2)+offset+~1/2"

Guestimication style, what? I get what you are saying but it begs asking how ~13mm became Customary?

Thats how us experienced guys do it ...through "guestimication". Not these convoluted, overly complicated calculations You learn quick or it gets expensive.

12.5mm that better?
