WAY OT.
Wasn't there someone on here that worked at a dealership in the service department? I can't remember.
My fiance's car is a 98 Accord with auto transmission. I've never changed the fluid on an auto tranny before. I can't imagine that it is that different than a manual, but I don't know. I've heard though that you are supposed to drain and refill, repeat it a few times before the final fill. Sounds almost like a transmission flush. If that's the case, it may be worth it to me to just go to a dealership. Plus then I can have them check the timing belt. Almost 160K miles and she says she's never had it changed.
Has anyone ever change automatic transmission fluid?

i did on my 95 v6. yours should be even easier. Make sure you have the funnel and tube. Long extension socket.
many people thought I need a new tranny at 100k (the shift shock between 1-2, 3-2) and I went on and drove another 40k... and was really looking forward breaking the tranny to give myself a reason for M/t Swap. I did the fluid when I really couldn't stand the "little slip" of the tranny when I stop daily drove my nsx, which, after I changed it, the car drove like "new" again. The car passed on to my dad for his daily commute, and now passing on to my sister. another 10k miles and still shift butter smooth. Gotta love HONDA.
I'll make sure you can take off the "fill" hole before you unbolt the drain bolt. afterall, that bolt's been there for its 160k glory miles. Again same common sense as for M/T fluid change.
I only used the honda ATF not other addictive and not recommended anyway.
