Cool Wenatchee Area?

I'm new here, stuck in the Wenatchee area until July 31, and interested in outings on this side of the mountains. I'm the original owner of my red 2003 S2000 and would like any excuse to drive it. Also interested in longer road trips in August and beyond -- maybe a drive through the North Cascades?

Have I come to the right place?

Welcome!

I don't know of much in that area. Lately there's been more meets and drives closer to the Greater Seattle area. There is a track day on the 16th & Mt. Baker drive on the 23rd.

"until July 31"? Where are you headed after?

I was born in Wenatchee, I try and get over there to at least to Leavenworth every year. There is some great roads/drives out that way. Unfortunately it is a bit off the beaten path for most of us, so it would take some real coordinating/planning and a real long day. Most of our drive from Seattle would be done before we even hooked up with you for the drive. Most of us arrive to Leavenworth at the destination and then turn around and come home from there. North cascade loop/Winthrop is a long ass cool drive that I haven't done in several years.

I'm interested in long day trips or multi-day trips. I do the north cascades loop at least once a year with my truck camper, S2000, or motorcycle. Guess which one is least fun?

I'm on call here until August 11. (I thought it was July 31.) After that, I have no plans and my calendar is wide open. I do go south for the winter, but I don't take my Honda.

The Mt. Baker drive sounds good; do you think they'll do it again in August or September?

I guess it depends on how far the drive and how your back is feeling. What starts out as most fun can eventually end up as a cruel and unusual torture session

I'm due for a good road trip in the S. Looking forward to our annual Baker drive in a couple weeks. Not sure how feasible that is for you as you would have to likely drive over the mountains the day prior and stay the night over here in a cheap motel and then cruise up with us from Seattle area.

Typically no unfortunately, just in June. Doesn't mean another drive somewhere couldn't be organized around that time though. You are free to give it a go if you feel you have a route people might like to join you on and you have some good organization skills. Let me know if I can help you with your post if you decide to take that on.

Born in Seattle and raised in Wenatchee. I think you could start out with a drive up to Lake Chelan. You can either go to the city or the state park. It's about 35 miles. There is also a nice park at Entiat on the way up. After that, I would take a trip up highway 2 (Wenatchee ave.) to Leavenworth. After a break there, you can either return or continue through and follow along the icicle river on highway 2 for as long as you like, all the way to Seattle. They are very scenic canyon carvers. Don't get distracted though. Have fun. My son lives there and will be back for the 4th of July. Let me know, I'm sure he would be more than glad to show you the sights.
