Default what to do ...

ever since I got my ems tuned at this place in Kirkland I've been having a few "problems"

1) it takes a second or so longer for the engine to start up ... though I've been told that it's normal for the AEM to have those symptoms
2) I have a HUGE problem with backfire. There's a lot of unburnt gas in my exhaust and it's starting to show juuuuust about where the tips are connected to the cans. Chris said I should tig weld it, but I wanted to eliminate the problem all together.

anything helps. I know there are forums out there will alll sorts of knowledge, but y'all seem to be a smart bunch and I'd love your feedback

I was thinking about a afc, but I'll wait to see what is said first

What? You shouldn't have any problem with "backfire" with a working cat. Either your cat is already dead or you are just dumping WAY too much raw fuel down the tailpipe and it soon will be dead.

the guys that I go to said that it's probably the way carbconn tuned my aem ems. perhaps the afr has something to do with it. but they're not sure either.

what would cause that much raw fuel to go past the cat?

I have a back fire under full throttle in between shifts. You can see it at night. I guess this is my attempt to look like Miami Vice.

I can recommend a very experienced Honda tuner familiar w/ EMS if you're interested.

Weren't you on the Starbucks drive with us? I remember driving behind a Suzuka, and later asked the driver if he had a testpipe...
