Wrongfully downshift
80 is aobut the upper limit of 3rd in an ap2 give or take 1mph....most likely its about 1mph high.
if you could, pull the VC and take a look and see what you see. might be interesting to take a lok and see if the retainers really can take that megga revv.

Again, note: This is mainly a concern for AP1 cars (F20C engines). It's not that the F22C can't be overreved, it's just that so far it is not known to have the same sort of silent damage.
I would do a leakdown test just to sleep comfortable and sound at night... Sure, we can tell you all the symptoms of a blown headgasket (signs of white smoke from the exhaust throughout all rpms) and other symptoms of a mechanical over-rev but I think you should do some test yourself to see what is going on.
If you are not mechanically inclined, please take your car to a technician...
You can check piston damage or engine block by doing a compression test) and as for the valves, you can do a complete leakdown.
You need to remove the valve cover to do a leakdown test anyways (to check TDC) so you can also visually inspect your valve retainers while you're at it. (Make sure you have a new valve cover gasket before removing the valve cover as it is highly recommended not to re-use the gasket.
With previous experience in working as an assistant mechanic, I honestly believe "being mad and worry" is not going to solve any problems, rather you should take a proactive approach and see what is going on under the hood.
Also: please take constructive critcism from PNW members and learn about proper shifting because not only will you save yourself money in the long run, but its a simple way to take care of all your MT cars in the future whether it be an s2000 or another vehicle of your choice.

good luck... just my .02
