Hey fellow PNW members!

I am seeing if anybody is interested in selling their car that isn't posted on Autotrader yet...
I would like either Black or White, with red leather (and black dashboard). Anything less than 30k miles, and it can be modded to h*ll or bone stock... Let me know if you might be selling!!

I'm not sure if they sold it but Acura of Seattle has a 2k1 with 34k miles and I talked them down to 21k...

Silver...

Wasn't my style though ;x

Thanks for the heads up. Do you know if it had warranty, or if it had any extras (JDM lights, wheels, anything aftermarket)?

Hey WyattH -

No leads on an S2000 for you - but I do have a question:

Are you on mbworld.org as WyattH? (I'm asking because my brother has an SL500 and is thinking about some wheels)

Thanks!

why are you only interested in a 2001? 2000 had black dash w/ red seats too. Open up the search and double your chances.

Yes, I am on MBworld, E46fanatics, M3forum, Ferrarichat, Is300.net, NSXprime, and 6speedonline (Porsche). All as WyattH... I'm a car enthusiast for all makes!

I am just against buying the first year of a make... I like allowing a year for the company to work some bugs out of their systems. Are there any differences between 2000 and 2001? I haven't had enough time to research the h*ll out of the S2000...

I'm only 17 years old and buying the car myself, with money I've earned and saved... I was hoping for a 2001 M3 (with replaced engine, 100k warranty, hehe), but just cannot afford it. After that I was going to get an IS300 and turbo it, but that didn't work out because I realized I just don't want 4 doors. I recently started considering the S2000, and it's hit a soft spot for me. It just strikes my emotions. I'm sure you all know what I mean; it makes you tingle...

I would also consider a 2002 of course, and even a 2003 (REALLY want a glass window) but probably can't afford one. Were there any bugs in the 2000s?

And the wheels are still for sale. If he'd like the HREs (or even OEM E55's) let me know!!

Take care, all.

Sorry for the second post...
But did all 2002s have the full red dashboard? I don't like that nearly as much. And in 2003 did tan replace red?
I'm just going from patterns I've noticed... Haven't researched as much as I should've.

For most exterior colors, black leather is either the only option or the most common option. For a few colors you might find cars with red. I think only the white cars had tan.

I'd personally recommend Pedalfaster's autocross car. Its a 2001 with higher miles than you want, but its already setup and a lot more forgiving than a stock S2000. He wants $21.5k, see his thread in this forum.

My advice: If you buy an S2000, take it to an autocross to try to learn when it will bite you and how it will bite you. Alternatively, NEVER drive the car with any real agression and know your limits and the car's limits.

Regarding stability and drivability, the 2000 and 2001 models rotate more easily than the 2002 and 2003 models and the 2004 cars are even more stable yet. I'm convinced that the early model's tendency to rotate is a bad thingon the street, particularly for inexperienced drivers. Now if you're going to strip the springs and sway bars off the cars and go all aftermarket, model won't matter (unless you really want an '04+ car)

I don't know your driving background, but the S2000 was my first rear wheel drive car. I would have been better off starting with a Miata. It was a very frustrating year for me and I spent a lot of time backwards on the track (and in the grass, etc.) I swear... the smallest little mistake and "whoop whoop whoop whoop." Eventually I figured the car out, but if it had been one of my first cars, I would have been in big trouble.

I second Andy's suggestion to buy Steve's car. Awesome setup.

I also agree that the S2 is a hard car to have as a first RWD car. At your age, you should save some money to play with or for school. Look for a good 1st gen or 2nd gen Miata. Fun as the S2 for sure. Plus it's pretty "mod-able", something you might like to do at your age.

Good luck.

BTW- there was no important differences between 2000 and 2001. 2002 was when the glass rear window appeared, and that's a feature I wish I had. Not sure about the all red dash though.
