The problem with these and other Noob hdrs is that you not using a scene that takes advantage of the technique. You need a scene that has detail in highlights and shadows of which your camera cannot capture in one shot. Hence high dynamic range. Shooting a "flat" scene that is alreay within the capability of the camera serves no purpose if you plan on taking multiple exposures.
Thank you sir very good pointers, I'll keep that in mind next time I shoot, well taken

Here's my only HDR image I have on hand.

Hopefully you're not using 3D max, I use Maya...

^Honestly, that's the ONLY picture in this thread that looks like HDR.

I do LOVE that shot of the Lotus though!

I agree. but, as said...this is more for fun. When I am shooting to learn, I wanna make the shot itself count without altering

It pisses me off when i can't get the shots w/ dark shadows and bright lights in a single shot. That's why i never shoot with a flash...even in dark. I want these shots from ME.......but this is fun to take a few shots and run with especially w/ photoshop in my background..but I only more development now....and even though my screen name implies a younger age, I'm 28. The screen name goes back to HS days

the camera goes EVERYWHERE with me!

Eventually you will find your own solution to what suits your taste. the good news is your are not succumbing to hdr as a cure all and your willing to work at it.

Dont be afraid to use strobes done properly it can get you the shot you desire. I dont have a lot of examples of cars shot with strobes but here is a fellow s2kers car i shot last year under harsh midday sun using a strobe to fill.

I did not over process the finished shot so you can see on the passenger side where the strobe filled in the shadow areas.

It could be blended better but im more of a fan on what you shoot you get rather than massaging the shot via pp. Thats just my style.

Yes I know this is on grass but we worked with what we had as far as location goes.
