Cool find!! I have heard of infrared photography recently in a cameras store when I was shopping to upgrade from my D50. The sale guy told me to be sure to keep the D50 as it is more readily compatible for infrared shooting because of its low-pass filter or something to that effects. I have not even looked up any infrared photo though as I am trying to improve on the visible spectrum photos first
As for your question: I don't know at all but if I had to GUESS... maybe some software out there COULD simulate the effect? Just a PURE GUESS and also I am sure that any simulated image won't be just like the real thing through the filter+lens+sensor

There is a real way, and a fake way. The real way is to shoot with an IR camera. The fake way is to either shoot with a IR filter, or achieve the look in photoshop. PM Alex (Poindexter.) He has experience in real IR photography, and could help you out.

I used to have a Sony 727 that had an IR filter. One of the best cameras for it back in the day. Like anything else though the look gets old when you do it long enough.
