Anyone driven a WRX STi ?
...if so, what did you think? I took one out for a spin...I was very impressed. The ride and handling reminded me of the S...the low end grunt impressed me. I would certainly entertain owning one of them (and I could take the whole family for a ride...at the same time!)
I also went for a quick drive in the Cadillac CTS-V.....no flaming please! It is the one with the Z06 engine and the 6 speed manual transmission....this car isn't your grandad's Cadillac. The ride was nice and firm (in the sport mode), the torque was great, and the exhaust note is very impressive....I guess I could take the whole family in it as well!!

I would consider an STI except for the fact that I gotta get up each day and actually look at it. It simply doesn't know what it wants to be - a sedan, a sports car, a boy racer wanabe "fast and furious"? It can't quite pass as a sedan because of that huge scoop and that goofy wing. It can't quite pass as a sports car because it's basically is still a 4 door sedan.
I owned something like an STI once. It had the same 300 hp. It was a twin turbo. It was AWD. The big difference was that it looked good. It was the Stealth. I can imagine that both cars performed similarly, although the STI is a bit lighter.
I don't know H, for the money, it's not a bad buy. If you can get past the "I don't know what I am" looks, why not?

Dave, I couldn't agree with you more....the wing (IMO) is hideous. The salespeople tell me that the wing is functional but I wonder what kind of speed that you need to be going for it to be any different than a normal WRX. If there was an STi wagon I would be all over it...a good family car that you can take out by yourself and kick up some dirt.
sti wagon would be awsome!
i tried test driving a sti before, but they said i had to put 1000 down to test drive it, i said ok... then they said i had to buy it to drive it...haha... oh well
if i had a sti, i would get rid of the wing, the scoop change it to a front mount intercooler... total sleeper!

I almost bought one at the beginning of February and still plan on getting one. They are amazing (fast as hell) vehicles and the perfect compromise between performance and practicality. I personally like the look of the STi, it remains true to it's rally roots. There is a fellow in Calgary (John Lowe) who bought his 05' STi in Bozeman, Montana last year taking advantage of our strong dollar, John paid about $44K CDN all said and done. The importation process is very straight forward. This is about an $8000 CDN savings over buying one from either Subaru dealer here in Calgary. Warranty is not affected whatsoever (I confirmed this with Subaru Canada) and the U.S. STi's have HID's as well. I am waiting to see what Subaru does with the 06' STi's which should be here in July/August before I take the plunge. The 05's have quite a few desireable upgrades over the 04's making them the logical choice for a used car buy, trouble is there are no 05's on the used car market yet, I check the trader every week. Many STi owners are running low to mid 12 second 1/4 mile times with merely a turboback exhaust and downpipe. They are also producing 60' times in the 1.6-1.7 second range owing to the STi's tenacious grip. Harv, maybe we can get a matching pair.

Brady,
I'd be interested in a "group buy" down to the states if it makes financial sense...let's keep an eye for the 06 specs and then see where we end up. I guess there is no point scouring the used market for a good 05 since you will probably beat me to it!!
