You can remove whatever panels you need to gain access. Start by removing the panel behind the seat - that thing with the "coat hangers" on it. The bolts are actually built into the hanger - a little flap can be pried open to expose the bolt. That panel has several tabs that you must pull on the unsnap it. I think there are 5-6 pressure pins. Once off, you might actuall see if the socket fell down there.
Next, you might need to remove the rocker panel cover so you can remove the side panel next to the first one you took off (with the hangers). Then the panel with the brushes is detachable too.

Before you start ripping your car apart, if you can guesstimate where the socket is, you might try to push down one of the telescopic magnet probes to see if you can "grab" it that way.

I needed some advice on the hooks ,no point in pulling and breaking panels, one thing i did fix ,my convertable top cover now stays down, i used a long piece of velcro wrapped it around the arm to fully compess it, it wound pop up about an 2inches and lift the cover out of position, takes 5 seconds per side to do,
