I purchased wheels and tires from car that had 10 miles on it from an S2Ki member. He packed them very poorly and as a result were damaged. I had paid for shipping. When I informed him of the situation, he sent me another set of wheels. Very used wheels. Curb rash and scratches. I said screw it, I paid for "as new" wheels and tires, so I'll send back the wheels for a refund. So now I'm stuck paying for half the shipping back and I'm out $130 in shipping, not to mention 3 trips to the Greyhound depot. Moral: try to buy locally.
Thats the problem with buying over the internet. Did you end up getting two sets of wheels for the price of one? In any event, instead of incurring fees to send them back, why not ask him to cover the cost of refinishing??
At the moment, I have two sets of wheels and one set of tires for the price of one set of wheels and tires. However, I'm sending the whole works back to him for a refund.
As for refinishing, I don't think that's an option, because of the different textures on the face of the spokes and the side of the spokes.
The first set are not even repairable since they are chipped. Here's a pic. Keep in mind, these were basically brand new before shipping.
Thats just assenine. You can tell however that the wheels were at one point, in half decent shape. From my experience at wheel repair shops, you can vary the texture of the wheel parts. What they would do first is refinish and paint the entire wheel in the rough/inner/textured part, and then polish just the spokes, or the lip at your request. Heck, you could polish the entire darn wheel! I'm assuming it's not going to be inexpensive to send 8 wheels and tires back. Almost seems like you should be compensated for your inconvenience.
