Default Shipping wheels and tires....

Does anyone have any creative way of packaging a set of wheels with tires mounted on them? Big boxes

Yep, big boxes are about the only way, I also put bubble wrap on the face of the rim and the back.

when i shipped my wheels, i got 24" boxes and cut/folded them into a hexagon. then bubble wrapped the face and taped/strapped the box like crazy. it takes a while to make sure everything is secure but its worth it to not get the wheels damaged.

I have bought several sets of wheels, the best ones I ever received were packed by a company like Mailboxes Plus. What they did was put 2-wheels per box, along with lots of bubble wrap and layers of cardboard between the wheels.

The shipping cost was much lower because it was 2 boxes not 4, both good for the seller as the price is more attractive, and better for the buyer because money spent on shipping feels like a waste.

Boxes are okay but the safest way is how Tirerack ships. I shipped all my wheels this way and never had a problem. Of course, my portable banding machine helps.

We ship all over the world this way without any major problems. The tire helps protect the wheels.

What is the rough cost for shipping a set of wheels & tires in the Tire Rack method (drop off at UPS, deliver to residential)? Tire Rack shows shipping to my location from Indiana* at ~ $135 for a full set. Is this realistic for a consumer to pay, too?

The wheels/tires I want to ship are about 100 miles from Tire Rack's facility.
