Actually a k-country drive is cool with me. I'm fine with keeping it simple.

Red Deer/Sylvan or Banff sound like excellent ideas!

OK, unless I get objections, let's do this:

Sept. 21. Meet in the morning at a convenient location for coffee, then head out the 1A to Banff, pay the one day park fee, drive up to the upper parking lot of Mt. Norquay for a "look see". Go into Banff and have lunch at some appropriate establishment. We can cruise to various other locations in and around Banff for more "look see" and pics.
I'll wait a day or two for responses to this and then I'll start a new thread to announce the details.

I could meet for coffee, but will be unable to attend the drive.

I have access to a yearly national park pass so I'm OK there

What's the road like leading up to Mt Norquay anyhow?

I haven't been for a while but last I recall, it's paved and full of switchbacks but not too long.
