Hmmm. Throw the garbage can in the back of your pickup truck and be gone I guess...

IMO they'll be shortlived. I can see those things going missing left, right & center.

unfortunately it is not.. our local TO police are using it scarcely at the moment .. it's a new photo radar for school zones of the 30kmh.. yes.. we get tagged for doing 50 in a 30kmh zone.. pathetic , but that's downtown T.O..

Ok, school zones, playground zones I agree. Enforce the living daylights out of them. Enforce 'em 'till they hurt. But on most roads... c'mon. We're policed enough already!

Maybe an errant refuse truck driver will mistake them for real garbage.

I don't particularly endorse "fishing holes" like the 4 line highway that Woodson talks about. I think that enforcement should be spread evenly throughout the city, and on various types of roads. You must remember that I too, am a driver when not on duty, and it chaps my ass when I see photoradar set-up in a "construction zone" after construction hours on the Deerfoot Trail.

I think agencies more and more are recognizing this. CPS for instance, is looking at putting restrictions on duration of time, and number of summonses written at a single location, before an officer must relocate to another area/method of enforcement. I also think that Traffic Service Requests are a good idea. Know of a particularly troublesome spot? Call the main Police number, and with any hope, an officer or team will target that area, paying special attention to the points arisen in the citizen's request.

Ah... Well, welcome to Holland!

Almost every household has one of those green trash bins (for food/fruits/garden waste) and a grey one for all the other waste. Each alternating week there's the gray or green bin waste collection day. Hence, such a speed camera goes pretty much unnoticed when put at the side of the road!

Speed tickets = multi million dollar business here. I'm sure it's coming soon to a State near you.

Indeed Siepel - I know those trash bins well. The boss and I lived in Leidschendam for 5 years (1995-2000), and became well aquainted with the bins.

Tho when we were there the cameras were normally in boxes on poles (and they did cost me many fls).

Anyone else notice first two pics show green bin (composting waste) and the second a grey bin ("normal waste").
