Oh and as for the bank loan. It was easy. They dont care if it's in china or something. As long as you can provide VIN number, royal bank gave it to me right away.

I've already imported a car from the states and just to let u know customs will accept a form from www.honda.com owners link for the recall letter. All u have to do is sign up with the vin # and print of the recalls that u find associated with the vin. Very easy to do.

Sweet. doesn't sound like too much of a hassle aside from actual transportation, and comparing canadian prices to US prices, I stand to save ~40% by buying from the U.S.

In my case customs didn't bother w/ the recall letter...RIV wanted the letter for the Federal inspection....

This might be a silly question, but if you are going to purchase a car across the border and then drive it across, where do you get plates from? And I guess you talk to your ins. co and get it insured before you drive it over. But the plate thing kinda baffles me.

in Manitoba we can get a temp reg paper that we stick in the front windshield when we are down in the states with the car. Just need about an hour and a fax machine. Usually i buy up here before i go now as its soo much easier just walking into a insurance broker and getting it in person.

Hi everyone,

Can someone, preferably a person who has imported a S2000 from US to Canada, maybe explain in detail exactly how much it cost them to do so. I know that there is a 6.1% duty tax, 7% gst, RIV fee ($150?), AC fee. Are there any additional costs?

It would be nice to hear from someone who has gone through the process. Much appreciated. Thanks!

I second this...since our dollar is doing well...importing makes alot of sense with the right instructions.
