Default Questions for you locals!

I was doing some budgeting this morning (my two projects are the car and a house).

Basically this is what I want to do (and what I need to do)

Rear S-02's - thats a 100% for sure, the previous ones were worn to nothing after 22,000 km's (which I hear is normal) - i figure $600 for the pair?

Ricks leather console cover - $250

Now, the big one I need help on (and why I made this thread ) - I want to have my front and rear bumpers repainted...

The front has lots of rock chips and such... the rear has that big scratch in the rear passanger side... but I also want to get that black trim by the exhaust painted..

What shops would you guys recommend, and what should I be paying (just guesses are fine)...

the other one is, I want to find a nice (brand new, or couple of years old) condo... underground parking, 2 bedroom... nice area of town in the $120-150k area... anyone know where I should look (I've only lived in calgary since July so I'm not entirely sure what areas of town to avoid)...

Thanks for your help... i know this thread is kinda long.

The only experience I've had with a body shop is when my CRX got somewhat mildly rear-ended. I took it to A1 Auto Body. Repair job was perfect and they provide you with a free courtesy car.

For S02's, from Tire Rack, I would say your guess would be very close. In fact, that's what I'm counting on it costing me when I replace mine in June or so.

For location of your condo, think of the traffic situation, because it's only going to get worse. i.e. I would hate to have to drive Mcleod Trail to get to work every day.

For the S02s, $600 for the rears is about right.

For the console cover, I would go with the Mastergrade CF console cover, makes you look like JPM or JV, I don't like Schumacher . I think they are going for $190US.

For the bumper painting, I would use Crowfoot Image Auto Body, good quality work for very reasonable price. I got my spoiler painted there and Dave got his front lip painted there. They should know your colour by now

I totally agree with Tim on the condo and finding the right place where traffic wouldn't kill your day. I was in Vancouver and no doubt Calgary's traffic will get just as bad, you would just want to sitting in traffic with the S which is a

Considering where you work, there are some nice condos near the SilverCity area that would be good, you'll just take deerfoot to 32 Ave from there, should be a fast sprint.

Yeah, i'm in Panorama Hills right now (rent from someone)... those condos going in just a block from where I'm at are worth looking in to.. I just don't know when its "too soon" to look...

Not to mention we're opening our second calgary location this year, and it sounds like its going to be in the SE by costco off 130th or something

business is booming, need any help?

I think that is great for a guy your age to be thinking about acquiring mature purchases like a condo. I have to pay the S off before I can think about a nice home for the S

The real estate value increases in Calgary is crazy, soon it will be so expensive to get a decent pad.

600 bucks for just the rear 2! I'm starting to feel real smug about getting all four for that price. They were one week old from the guy at TunerWorks. Go see Mr. Blaskin @ the North Hill Blaskin & Lane about the tires. Tell him the fireman who works with their book-keeper sent you and see what he says. He knows I've sent him a lot of customers and might cut you a deal. Also, see if you can buy them through your mattress store. If the Franklin B&L is more convenient, see Frank and tell him the same story. He's drinking buddies with the book-keeper.
Check out the body place that Former and I got our spoiler done at. They do good work. I'm guessing front AND rear bumpers will cost about $600.00-$700.00, maybe more. Once you get the front bumper done, talk to Woodson or Former about getting the film put on. Then you'll never need to worry about it again.
As for the condo, take a look at those new ones they're building just east of that pond behind the IGA mall. My partner's sister just bought one there and the price was in your range and they'll be finished about March/April. That area is growing fast and seems to be very "up and coming" and popular. With Deerfoot that close, access to the south is no problem. S.W., however, will be a different story.

I figure why not. I'm paying over $400 a month right now to rent. A friend of mine is moving he from Saskatoon, so if he rents from me, I'm only going to be out maybe $100-300 more per month to own my own home.

I just need to be careful, I don't wanna park the S2K outside anymore (I do right now).

Hello ,
I have some advie on most things you are talking about , I had my red S in this summer for new tires , the whole fron end repainted ( small cosmetics ) and I bought Firestone Firehawks , I am not huge on them I have 10K and they are really wearing in the back ! , So I might reccomend the So2's they were on sale this summer for 180 each

As far as paint I went high end because I was not paying the whole shot , I went to contemporary coachworks , bumber 550 and the hood etc about 1500 but they work ONLY on import high end cars .

As far as the condo idea I am a realtor in Calgary with Remax and can DEFINITELY help you on this I haev extensive expreience in condo's and know the city quite well , drop me a line and we can set up a coffee to discuss this , you will be impressed at what I can find for you once I know exactly what you are looking for !

Welcome to Calgary and to the Prairie Redliners !

If you go with Contemporary, be prepaired to wait. They are slower than molasses in the winter
