The thing is, I don't know how long those U.S. prices have been there. From talking to people down there, it didn't sound like it was a recent increase. It may very well have been up there for quite some time, so I would necessarily worry about it till it happens and even when it happens, there's little we can do about it anyway.
Gas prices have been high in California since spring/summer of 2004. Gas prices went down over the Winter and stabilized until mid February.

Oh and by the way, 91 Octane went as high as $2.70/gallon here in the SF Bay.
I just filled up my mbz and it cost me $45 for the full tank.

$2.27 a gallon US isn't that bad. That converts out to be $0.76 a litre which is cheaper than what we are paying now! When I drove to Chicago in the middle of february i bought premium fuel for anywhere from $2.06-2.25 US a gallon which is only $0.69-0.75 a litre, which is pretty cheap for premium. Last time i checked premium was $0.89 a litre here which converts to $2.70 US a gallon!

Yes, but you cannot directly compare the two countries. We're always 10-30% higher

Also, keep in mind that Imperial Gallon (Canada) is bigger than US Gallon.

So true, but when going from US gallon to liters, dividing by 4 gets you really close since 1 US gallon is "almost" 4L. 1 US qt is about 0.95L.
