Stereo help
so ive had my AP1 for about 6 months now and am kinda getting annoyed with the lack of volume my stereo has... its a stock setup, anyways just wondering what some other owners have for after market decks ive always been a alpine guy but looking to try something new. One more thing, if i install a new deck what troubles do i have to go through to get my new deck to run off the switches next to the steering column? any input is good input. thanks
i would to a deck and aftermarket speakers
if u want to spend amp to the speakers... it soundsa awsome!
but honestly i barely listen to my stereo when im in the S... top down with my exhaust i can barely here anything...hahahhahahha
i would stay alpine... i love the scrolling option for their mp3's... i wish i got alpine

To utilize the controls on the left you'll want the Modifry Dash Control Interface (DCI) http://www.modifry.com/products/index.htm
I've gotten by the last 8 months because I was lucky enough to have a friend give me a pair of Pioneer door speakers to replace my stock. They were an improvement for sure, but not enough still. If you replace the door speakers you will most likely have to cut the plastic basket in which the mount to allow the magnet to fit. You'll find great stereo info in the Audio forum.
Over the winter I plan to change the deck and install rear speakers behind the seats to add a little extra sound. I might go with a small 5-channel amp if I can find something decent and power the speakers as well as a removable sub in the tool well of the trunk.
Seems like a good winter project to me! Do some reading on here and give it a shot too!

My opinion after doing a fairly heavy upgrade is to not waste too much time and money on the S2000. This car has literally NO sound deadening material installed from the factory. The engine and road noise drowns out even heavily amp'd systems at anything over 30kph. Most of the extra volume you add just goes right out of the vehicle, and road noise comes right in. Sure, it may sound louder with more power, but it still sounds like shit with the LOUD road and engine noise mixed in.
The S2000 is just a lousy car to install a stereo in. It suffers from the "tin can" effect. This never became more evident to me till I recently bought a 4500 lb truck. That truck sounds like a vault when I get inside. It's NOTHING like the S2000. And now I'm beginning to understand that most other cars I drive in are NOTHING like the S2000 either.
If you really want to get more volume, also consider insulating the floor, firewall, and doors. Keep the sound you have in, and the sound you don't want out.
Chris.

what if i replaced my side pannels with AP2 side pannels? im sure they are a little bit louder because of the 2 extra speakers that are at a higher location. I think my main problem is that im to dam big and my leg keeps covering up the speaker when im driving. also thanks mikey for the link will read up about it tonight.
