Default Warranty

My car is an 02. Coming up in May 05, there's that 3-yr warranty that will expire. What is that called? Powertrain? or bumper to bumper?

What is the one that is 5-yr?

All S by default comes with two warranties, 3-yr and 5-yr, am i correct?

The 3 year is your comprehensive warranty and that basically covers everything on the car except for wear items (tires, clutch, brake pads, bulbs, wiperblades, etc). The 5 year is your powertrain/major component warranty and covers things such as transmission and engine components. Do you still have your warranty manual that came with your S ? It should all be detailed in there.

I'm getting very close to the 3 year, 60,000 km mark. I think I have a month left and 2,500 kms to go.

So my question is do I buy the extended warranty? What do you think? Calgarian?

I'm considering not getting the extended warranty because there is nothing that is wrong with the car. So my calculated gamble is that nothing major will go wrong. Powertrain would still be in effect then I guess for another 2 years. Honda's are just too reliable.

After carefull reading of other threads regarding extended warranty claims...

DON'T BUY IT, COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY IF DOING ANY MODIFICATIONS TO YOUR CAR...which I plan on doing.

I guess if you leave your car stock you may want to consider it.

I'm definitely not buying the extended warranty.

I bought the extended warranty more or less for resale purposes... plus T&T Honda will still take care of the car even when its modded. I mean, obviously common sense applies... if your cd player stops working they really can't blame your cold air intake.

Now that I think about it, most dealerships are good about modified cars. I had a lot of money into my '00 Honda Civic and never had an issue with Honda Red Deer getting warranty work done. And their service is poor, to top it off

I bought the extended warranty and it covered my $5,000 repair bill on transmisson & suspension work.

My extended warranty was worth evey penny! I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

It has obviously been 3 yrs since I bought my car. I probably received it when I first bought the car but I sure hell don't remember where I put it. It's not in the stack where I have the original bill of sale, all service records, etc. I could probably go back to the dealership and get another copy?

No, since the car is going on the selling block in spring, I'm sure sellers are going to ask about the warranty remaining.

Since you bring your car to the track frequently, I guess as long as you have warranty, Honda won't be fussy about how you drive your car?

So if you were a potential buyer of an S, would you be worried if the comprehensive warranty is almost over or has expire?

No, I have bought two S2000's with no comprehensive warranty.
