This is a common mod that most owners do when they swap out the OEM exhaust on their AP2. Not 100% sure but it should just be remove and replace.

I put an ap2 bumper on my ap1. In this conversion you need to extend the lower bumper mounts with spacers, and move the mounting hole in the wheel wells.

So doing that in reverse it would be harder to shorten the lower mounts of an ap2 as they are longer than ap1's and they are fixed metal mounts. I don't know how the lower bumper flap of the ap1 bumper would work with the ap2 mounting brackets, they might reach but just be at a different angle ?. Moving the wheel well mounting hole isn't difficult.

Hey thanks so much for that info...
sounds maybe a little fabrication would be
needed to make it work..not just plug and play.

Or the lower bumper flap ends up sitting at a lower angle closer towards the ground, and you get more of an umbrella effect as wind blows into the bumper from underneath. I'm sure it is doable, it just depends on how it looks and how it functions.
