AP2 lip paint help!
im in need of help on what to do with the molding on my ap2 lip before paint. should i take it off or cover it with tape? i know taking it off will make it a cleaner/easier job but im afraid if i take it off i wont be able to put it back on as good as oem. the double sided tape on it seems so thin.
any suggestions or what have u guys done in the past to your repainted ap2 lips.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Your best bet is to take it off. Don't worry about pulling off the 3M tape just yet. After you get it repainted, scrape off the old 3M tape using a razor blade / utility knife and a hair dryer/heat gun on low setting. Then clean that area with a rag and rubbing alcohol and apply new 3M tape to the lip, and re-install.
Just so you know if you if you try to take if off and it breaks you'll be SOL. It's not a part that is sold by it's self. You'll have to order a new lip, See if this will work, Use note cards, slide it in between the seal and edge standing strait up. trim them as needed. This should pull the seal back.

duh! wtf was i thinking? when you said molding, i was thinking 3M tape that is typically used on the back of lips, and not the thin gasket that goes along the top of the AP2 lip. my apologies...
