Default Does anybody have a Clear Bra product?

I'm looking to avoid getting paint chips on my S2k. Has anybody used any of the clear bra type products (3M, etc) on their car? Which products have worked the best?
Any good installers near Pittsburgh??

Thanks

I've had a venture installed since the beginning of the year and it has been great.

I was debating between venture and the 3m. After talking with several installers and bodyshops I made my decision.

1. It came wit a life time warranty as opposed to only 2-3 years for 3m.
2 The film was hand cut as opposed to pre cut 3m film that can leave uneven gaps.
3. There is much less orange peel texture
4. No yellowing that I've seen. According to 3m, their film will yellow.

My advice would be to take to local shops and see who they recommend. It's all about the install. See who'll give you the best warranty.

If you can, find cars that have a clear bra installed.

I have 3m clear bra going on a year old in a few days. No discoloring on my GPW can't even tell it on from a few feet away. Mine was also hand cut. The 3m clear bra doesn't have bad orange peel, but I haven't seen Venture's product to compare the two.

I heard that Venture Shield was purchased by 3M, honestly either one will do the job.

my dealer does the 3m install. probably 2-3 cars a day typically. I work next to the tech that does it. I can tell you that the 3m will yellow in 5 years or more if it sits in direct sunlight all the time. also it truly is more of a thing of art to install that shit. our tech is pretty good at it, but is highly experienced. if you have some noob install it. i gurantee there will be defects in it. i would also recommend protecting your rear bumper inside edge by the tire, and your mirrors.

So you guys leave it on all the time? Do you ever take it off to wash the vehicle? If so do you reinstall it yourself or do you take it to a shop?

What you really want is Auto Armor it is a thicker Clear Coat that can put on by one of your local paint shops. I can't remember if the forum will let you put links in the thread but anyway just do a search on Google. Many Race Cars now use this method now to avoid constant repainting of the car. You can cover any part of the car you feel needs it including the entire car if necessary.

Good Luck!

I used venture... installed it myself 3.5 years ago... Just took it off my spoon bumper as ... and will be using 3m this time. I had no problems with the venture yellowing ... and like previous op said..

putting it on is a pain and not easy.. but when I took it off it was like a new paint job...

I've had 3M ClearBra on my car for almost 6 years now, and It's more than paid for itself. I highly recommend it.
