Default Headlight protector film choices.

I'm planning to clean my headlight but I want to protect it as soon as clean it to make it last longer. I've googled it and found few options /w various price. Has anyone had experience with these brand? what is your opinion? also, these are pre-cut for specific vehicle. would it be better to get a sheet and make my own?

google search:
https://www.google.com/#q=headlight+protector+film

brands:

3M
www.weathertech.com/lampgard/
www.lamin-x.com/
www.xpel.com/headlight-protection-kits/

or If you have other option to protect headlights, post it please.

thanks!

I had xpel on my Challenger - the guys who put it on said it was the best (this was for the bumper but I figure its the same stuff for headlights). Had no issues with it.

I've used Lamin-x before on a few cars and sits good stuff.

But I've read that our headlights have a tendency to crack when a film is applied to them over time.

Some film can cause crazing of the lights, usually if the material is too thick and it puts too much tension on the light housing, with heat from the fixture it can crack. I'm not sure which film is a good thickness and which one is a bad thickness so I've avoided it.

Lamin-x is pretty thick so it molds nicely even around pretty aggressive headlights. I've wrapped an 07is250, MB C300, and a 14is350 headlights with it. Actually I messed up the is350 but I'm too lazy to pull it off. Didn't heat it up enough so it's pulled itself off in the corners. But if you know the is350 lights they have some funky bends to get around. S2000 lights would be a piece of cake relatively speaking.

Negative, but why even take the risk? Headlights are too damn expensive.
