Masking off fine areas for paint?
I plan on painting my center caps silver (similar to the euro spec ap1 rims) for a little project I have going on. Since the center caps that I will be starting off with are the stock ap1 00-03 USDM center caps that are machined silver, how I would go about masking off the black "H" in the middle? I have read that some people use vaseline to coat the H but that seems kind of tricky if it wasnt coated properly. Since the H is not engraved into the center cap I really cant tape it off unless I make an exact cut out of painters tape and over layed it on top. Any tips or ideas will be appreciated, thanks.

Yeah most just paint the whole thing then get some H decals to put on them. With my old ap1 wheels I painted them silverstone, and I actually masked off the H, painted them, peeled the tape off, then clear coated the whole things and they turned out great. I used some wide green painters tape and put it right over the H, and then got under some nice lighting and you should be able to see the H through the tape faintly. Just trace it with a pencil onto the tape, then use a sharp hobby knife and cut it out. Sometimes you might have to have it at a certain angle to see the H underneith clear enough to trace it onto the tape but you should be able to do it.
