Default Odd headlight stuff

Body shop that's working on my S sent this pic over today saying, "there is what appears to glue on the right headlamp."

I can't really tell what I'm looking at. It looks like they've stretched some kinda wrap over it? Not sure what they're talking about.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
UD.

I know the original owner. This headlight has never been removed from the car before.

Okay. Found some pics to jog the previous owners memory. He started trying to do the clear signal lens mod but stopped and sealed it with something. Didn't look like that when he put it back in. No explanation for why it looks like that now.

UD.

What was the "something" used to seal it?
