Default Was rear ended. Need advice on repairs.

I got rear ended by someone Friday and I want to know how to go about getting it fixed.
I went to the body shop that the insurance told me to go to and here are my choices. I could just have the insurance pay the shop and they will try to fix and re-paint the bumper with a lifetime warrenty, if they cant fix the bumper they will replace it with a remanufactured one. Or I can get cash from the insurance company. The thing is that the shop that the insurance recommended gave me a qoute of $550 because they said that it might be possible to repair the bumper without replacing it, while most other shops said it will be almost $700 because they will replace the bumper. If I get cash and go to a shop of my choice and it ends up costing more than $550 then the shop has to call the insurance and explain why it will cost more and then they will send the cash.

Also the tailight is pushed in and all the shops I went to said it might be cracked on the inside.

So should I just go to the shop the insurance recomends and have them fix it/replace it with a remanufactured bumper, or should I get cash and go to a shop of my choice and deal with getting the insurance to pay more(since its probably going to be more than $550).

Heres some pictures of the damage for reference.

They can be bad or perfect. Just be really anal when you pick your car up. There will be bondo in the bumper but if done correctly it should never fail.if your not happy they have to fix it.

I got rear ended a few years ago and they repaired my bumper. It wasn't creased like yours, but it was hit pretty hard. When they took the cover off they found the bumper beam bent, which had to be replaced. You won't know that until they dig into it.

My bumper repair turned out great. You couldn't tell it was ever damaged. I was very impressed with the repair.
