Default Rear fender liner - Does the S2000 have them

Hi All,

As I am trying to discover my S2000 (2005 AP2) bit by bit, I feel that I am missing the rear fender liners, there is a massive gap when I look at the car from the top of the rear tires looking backward. Something tells me there is something wrong here. The PO also has cut a 3/4" slot right above the rear license plate which I thought was effing weird, could the two issues be related? Appreciate your help with this, if I am missing the rear fenders, I want to order them from the dealer before they are all gone!

Thank you.

S2000’s do not have rear fender liners.

All S2000’s have a slot above the rear plate.

As noted your '05 is normal and correct. A couple of years ago someone was selling aftermarket rear fender liners here. A search may turn up the information. Honda did not fit them for a reason I'm sure, they're inexpensive enough to have been factory fitted if they had any benefit. Theories regarding them causing more turbulence and trapping more air under the car affecting handling have been proposed.

There are a lot of threads/stickies that discuss a lot of common questions. I'd recommend reading through them.

Also, the search function works too for answering most questions.

there's a Canadian fellow who used to manufacture rear fender liners- he put quite a bit of design time into them and they look to be a quality unit. Nothing came from Honda OEM.

Thank you for your input, I will just leave alone then. No need to mess with it now.
